This work from the series "People by the Sea" stages the coastline as a liminal space between inside and outside, confinement and expansiveness. The strictly structured architecture on the left appears closed, almost hermetic – characterized by a rough surface, subdued colors, and a single, luminous door as a visual focus.
In contrast, there is the open expanse of the sea in the warm light of an intense horizon. An isolated figure is positioned precisely at the boundary of both worlds. The clear vertical division of the image reinforces the impression of a transition – a moment of decision or contemplation. The reflection in the water doubles the composition while simultaneously dissolving the stability of space and form.
Reality and reflection, interior space and landscape, construction and nature enter into a silent dialogue. The reduced visual language and striking color contrasts lend the scene a timeless, almost surreal quality. The figure is not seen as an individual but as a projection surface for existential questions.
The concept and artistic design are my own. The visualization was realized using generative AI as an integral part of my creative process.
