Collection: Ocean surf
The series "Ocean Surf" is dedicated to the elemental movement of the sea as an expression of energy, rhythm, and transformation. At its heart is the wave – not as a mere natural phenomenon, but as a condensed form of power, transition, and intrinsic dynamics.
The works depict surf in various states: as a building movement, as a breaking form, as a flowing transition. This creates a tension between dynamism and balance, between controlled form and dissolution. The wave becomes a bearer of energy that visibly unfolds, propagates, and re-forms.
Characteristic is the interplay of light and water. Warm sunlight penetrates the wave bodies, refracts in their structures, and creates intense contrasts to the cool blue and white tones of the sea. Light here acts not only as atmosphere but as a formative element that makes movement visible and creates structure.
The visual language moves between figuration and abstraction. Nature is reduced, condensed, and translated into an independent visual order. Lines, surfaces, and color gradients transform the physical reality of the surf into a clear, contemporary formal language.
In the condensed selection of the series, the focus consistently lies on the interplay of movement and light – on moments of heightened intensity in which energy visibly manifests itself. The works interact with each other and together unfold a visual dramaturgy from calm build-up to powerful condensation.
The concept and artistic design are my own; the visualization is done with generative AI as a deliberately used tool in the creative process.
"Ocean Surf" is thus a series about states in flux – about the visibility of energy and the form it takes at the moment of its appearance.
