This work is part of my series "Wadden Sea Art" and marks a deliberate approach to a photorealistic visual language within my overall artistic oeuvre. The focus is on the characteristic elements of the Wadden Sea: the wide, almost boundless horizon line, the shallow water surfaces, and the organic structures in the sand formed by the ebb tide.
The composition is highly reduced and concentrates on transitions – between water and land, between light and dark, between movement and stillness. The landscape is clearly shaped in the image: curved tidal channels structure the surface and lead the eye into the depth of the pictorial space. The light of the sunset reflects on the water's surface, creating a calm, flowing transition between surface and reflection.
Despite the closer proximity to photographic vision, the conceptual basis of my work remains: the landscape serves not only as a depiction but as a meditative space. The extreme reduction, the precise balance of color gradients, and the concentration on horizontal lines refer to themes such as time, stillness, and perception.
Within the series, this work expands my approach – an approximation to reality without abandoning the focus on abstraction and atmospheric condensation. Concept and artistic design by me, visualized with the help of generative AI as an integral part of the creative process.
